Thanks ob and whistleblower. I found the location on google maps and have emailed the site you suggested.

My wife and I are both big sports fans. We like almost any sport. Our favorite is American college football (as avid Florida State fans we drive 10 hours each way to go to home games) and Rugby has been called the 'father' of American football, so we wanted to learn more about it and see a game or two while in the UK.

Over the years we have hosted 7 exchange students (from Germany, Austria, Serbia, Brazil and Japan) and they always enjoyed getting interested in sports they had never known much about before they came here - mostly American football, baseball and lacrosse. We want to have the same experience. Most of 'our kids' had grown up on football and were welcome additions to the local high school teams. We loved going to watch their matches.

Thanks again for the help.

bcommander1 - I can't help with the game selection (being far from local), but I'm fascinated to learn more about what prompted you to post. Are you American? What kindled your interest in our sport?

We are at the end of the season now, so many clubs will have finished their programme, with representative sides and festivals/tournaments being what remains. Weather-wise, this makes for good rugby - but representative teams drawn from different clubs actoss their counties may not have fully "gelled" into a cohesive unit, so you can expect a slightly more disjointed game than the one you see on TV.

I hope you enjoy the Lake District - it's a lovely setting.

You can get a map of the field location on the Kendal website http://www.kendal-rugby.com/

I suggest you email info@alistairsanderson.com (as given on the website) for more information.

I have never seen Rugby - except on TV. My wife and I will be visiting the UK May 3-9 and we want to see a match. I see that there is a County Championship Shield match in Kendal - (we will be staying in Penrith) on May 3 at 1500. Can anyone tell me where the field is located, how much tickets cost, etc. Or please let me know if there is a better match to watch during this time period near Penrith. Thanks.
