Harlequin Ladies ran another very successful Girls Rugby Coaching Day at the Twickenham Stoop Stadium on Saturday 18 February 2006 before the NEC Harlequins v Coventry game. Despite the half term holidays, 16 girls between 7 and 17 years of age took part in the day that was coached by Harlequin Ladies 1st XV players. Each participant went away with a ‘Harlequin Youth Academy’ T-shirt and draw string bag.
The players were once again split into two age groups: 7 – 10 year olds and 11-17 year olds. The standard varied from complete beginners to those girls that have played mini or girls rugby for club sides within the Home Counties.
Club Captain Mel Antao said, “It was great to see so many new faces at the day, especially those that had made the long trek from Bournemouth and Kent. All the girls really enjoyed themselves and working hard for the coaches on the day.”
The next Coaching Day will be held on Saturday 11 March 2006 – NEC Harlequins v Earth Titans. An additional date of Saturday 22 April 2006 - NEC Harlequins v Bedford has also been set.
