Welfare Managers Workshop
(from Nic Scott)
The Child Protection Department hold two workshops a year for all CB Welfare Managers (CBWM). During these workshops the CBWMs are updated on any changes to RFU/W policies and procedures in relation to child protection, receive training on relevant subjects as well as interact with their colleagues in other CBs.
The next workshop will be held on 10 & 11 November at Bath RFC. As you will appreciate it is important that each CB is represented at this event to ensure the CB is up to date with their child protection policies and procedures. Whilst many have already replied, it would be greatly appreciated if you could check with/encourage your CBWM to attend the workshop, and if this is not possible, identify a replacement.
For those CBs who do not have a CBWM in post please would you be kind enough to identify someone to attend to represent your CB. All correspondence should be directed to the Child Protection Executive Ann Hutchins ([annhutchins@rfu.com]). Thank you for all your help and support.
Office Equipment Grants
The RFU Office Equipment Grant Scheme has been expanded by £2,500 per CB. This means that even if you had previously reached your limit, you can now apply for further funding. All applications should be routed through Rob Edmunds [robedmunds@rfu.com] and will be put before the CB Finance Sub-Committee for approval. 2007/08 meeting dates are:
- 6 September
- 8 November
- 3 January
- 6 March
- 1 May
Go Play Rugby
We've teamed up with UCAS to try and create the longest ever continuous pass of a rugby ball. The idea is simple - video yourself receiving a pass from your right and passing it on to the left. We''ll join up all the clips so you can see who has passed you the ball and who you pass it to. It could be one of your best mates, a random person, or maybe Johnny Wilkinson.
There's a prize of two tickets for the 2008 Six Nations at Twickenham for the most inventive pass! Visit the Yougofurther website and get your CB, clubs, colleges, schools, sponsors, local businesses and everyone else involved too!
Students
Term has kicked off with a bang! GoPlayRugby resources have been distributed to 106 Universities and 37 Colleges to help recruit players during Freshers Fairs and the Rugby World Cup. All Universities have been sent a template to create formal Club Links. Regional representatives of the Students RFU are working with RDOs and RRDMs to support toolkit funded regional events.
Please encourage your clubs stay involved with this vital source of 16-30 year olds by strengthening student activity from development planning workshops to front row clinics. If you would like any further information, please contact [peterbath@rfu.com].
