11 CB Send Out - 16 March 2007
Rugby Leaders Conference
In just 14 days leaders from across the country meet to formulate plans to take advantage of RWC2007 to recruit adult players. Over 150 people have already registered on-line for the conference and been sent their delegate pack by post. If your CB has not filled your allocation or if you have another enthusiastic delegate who is keen to participate, please contact Laura Fear [email@example.com].
With just 175 days to the start of the Rugby World Cup, things are getting exciting with the National Adult Player recruitment campaign. An interactive and motivational launch was held with the RFU Regional Development Teams on 15 March. The CB Campaign Teams attending the Rugby Leaders Conference, will kick off the campaign in earnest and progress their planning to help clubs make the most of the campaign. To enable CBs to receive all the information they will need it is vital that all CB Campaign Team members are registered on RugbyFirst. If your Campaign Team is not yet registered, your CB Champion may be the right person to speak to or contact firstname.lastname@example.org.

Smoke Free Rugby clubs will have to comply with the ban on smoking in public places that comes into force this summer. From 1 July, 2007 all premises to which any section of the public has access - and this includes membership clubs and licensed premises – must be smoke-free to comply with the Health Act 2006.
Information on the steps that clubs need to take will be included in the April issue of Touchline. To find out more about the smoke-free legislation, clubs can call the RFU Legal Helpline on 0870 060 3437 (Mon to Fri 8am to 6pm excluding Bank Holidays), visit the Department of Health’s dedicated website dealing with the law change www.smokefreeengland.co.uk.
More Pleasure than you can measure! This summer looks set to see a record number of Leisure Rugby events within England including: 20 beach rugby festivals, 100 touch rugby leagues, 20 Adult TAG rugby leagues, 8 summer 7’s leagues, 30 special community promotional events. There is a growing demand for the provision of ''easy to play’ forms of the game from people who have lifestyles which restrict their access the normal game. There is also demand from people who would like to participate in a non contact sport where mixed age and genders can enjoy playing together.
To cater for this demand, the Rugby Football Union established a specialist Leisure Rugby Team: Alan Black (Manager), Dan Brown (Project Manager), David Fotherby (Events Co-ordinator) and Beverley Collier (Administrator). Part time project co-ordinators are also employed for specific projects and during peak activity. If you are running any Leisure Rugby events, especially if you wish any support, please email firstname.lastname@example.org, call 0870 143 2414 or visit the Leisure Rugby page of the RFU website for further information.
