ELVs and the Youth Game
A one page letter explaining the application of the ELVs to the Under 19 game for cross border fixtures can be downloaded here (PDF 20kB).
Clubs have been sent letters by Nick Eastwood notifying them of the funding arrangements for season 2008/09. The letter includes information about revenue funding, capital funding, travel allowances, and insurance (including liability and ELVs). Copies of the insurance cover are available in the Insurance section of the RFU website.
From the beginning of season 2008/09, all ERFSU affiliated schools will automatically be covered by RFU insurance. The RFU will pay in full the insurance premium to further support the growth of the game in schools. Affiliation to the ERFSU is the natural consequence of affiliation to the appropriate County Schools Union.
New arrangements for Catastrophically Injured players, announced at the RFU AGM by Nick Eastwood, come into effect this season. The attached letter (Word 64kB) explains the arrangements to clubs.
Thanks to the 30 CBs who have nominated delegates to attend on 10/11 October 2008. This will be the first CB event to use the new South Stand conference and banqueting facilities. If you have not returned your nominations, please contact [email@example.com].

Please note that all information required for clubs AND CBs is downloaded from RugbyFirst, so if you have not updated your information on this system then incorrect information is printed or used for mailings or for contacting you. Please ensure you, or someone responsible for keeping the information updated for your CB, goes to RugbyFirst to check the current data and amend where appropriate. We will be arranging for an Errata Sheet to be issued for those incorrect handbook entries.

2008 Anti-Doping Resources
With the 2008-09 season well and truly underway the RFU would like to remind the wider rugby community of its commitment to drug free sport. As part of the RFU Anti-Doping Programme there a host of anti-doping resources including Advice Cards, Drug Information Database cards, posters and DVDs available (check them out at the Anti-Doping section of the RFU website) for your clubs, players and coaches.
These resources can be easily put into a players kitbags or distributed around the clubhouse and they provide useful information on supplements, testing procedures, types of banned substances and how to check the status of medications. If you would like to order some of these (free) or for further information please contact RFU Anti-Doping Officer, Gavin Dovey [email@example.com].

(from Richard Glynne Jones)
I am delighted to confirm that Alan Biggs, currently Referee Development Officer (RefDO) for the Midlands, has been promoted to the role of Referee Development Manager, covering the same area. Alan commenced his new role on 8 September and replaces David Rose, who joins the RFUW as Head of Development.
Alan has impressed in his RefDO role, successfully leading the delivery of the ELRA in his area and making a significant contribution to the development of club, school and student referees. I have no doubt that Alan will experience further success in his new role as he leads the continued development of Officiating in the Midlands. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank David Rose for the role he has played in Match Official development over a number of years and wish him well in his new role.
