CBRDP & CSU National Conference - Our Joint Approach
The National CB Rugby Development Partnership (CBRDP) task group and ERFSU will be staging the second joint CBRDP and County Schools Union (CSU) National Conference supported by the Community Rugby Schools Development Department and Community Rugby Regional Delivery Teams (RDT). The Conference title – Our Joint Approach – reflects the importance of creating a structure with everyone pulling in the same direction.
Invitations have been issued to: The CBRDP Chair and the ERFSU County representative, they have also been asked to nominate an additional person from each county organisation. The conference will take place on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 September at Heythrop Park in Oxfordshire. If you have any questions your CPRDP or CSU representative has further information.
Many thanks to all the CB Facility Coordinators, Honorary Secretaries, and Council Members who attended the discussions launching the new RFU Facility Strategy. CB volunteers were introduced to the 'rationale' behind the strategy and how it can be used at a local level to assist clubs with their facility developments.
With the added bonus of having regional Sport England staff and County Sports Partnership (CSP). Directors in attendance, the meetings have provided an excellent opportunity to start or further improve working relationships.
The CSPs are currently reviewing facilities needs in their partnerships and so our regional launches have come at the right time for them to start the ‘joined up thinking". Dates for the northern meetings will be provided to CBs in the near future.

Congratulations to Dorset and Wiltshire who are the latest Constituent Body to achieve Industrial and Provident status. We urge all CBs to consider their legal status (if they have not already done so) especially to protect their volunteers who may be at risk if the organisation is unincorporated.
Information about constitutions can be found on the website. Although this advice is primarily directed at clubs, it provides an overview that may help CBs. If you have further queries, please use the contacts listed in the documentation. Changing your Constitution or Changing Legal Status is a legal process. You are advised to seek independent legal advice to ensure your changes are effective.
New club information
Two new documents have been posted on the RFU website to assist clubs with financial matters. Please would you be kind enough to alert your CB and club treasurers to this information? If you have any queries, please contact [email@example.com].
Jewish World Rugby Championships, Maccabiah, 2009
Next Year, for the first time ever, there will be an U16s 15-a-side rugby competition at the World Jewish Games to be held July 2009 in Israel. Jewish boys born in 1993 or 1994 who are interested in representing Great Britain as part of the Maccabi GB U16s rugby team, are invited to register on the Maccabi website.
Trials/training will be held in London and Manchester from mid-June 2008 onwards, but will depend on player registration. Some sponsorship is already in place for the overall trip so players will be subsidised, but individuals will also be required to raise some funds to cover their own tour costs. For further information about GB Maccabi rugby squads for 2009, please contact Maurice Leaman at [firstname.lastname@example.org] or call 07778536265.
