Equality Standard

The RFU and RFUW have been jointly awarded the Equality Standard 'Preliminary Award' by Sport England. This award demonstrates the RFU/RFUWs high standards of openness and accessibility currently found within rugby union, and our commitment to continual improvement in the area of equity within our game. Thanks to the team who brought the submission together over the last twelve months: Angela Barnett, Phil Clarke, Helen Gates, Nic Scott and all those who have given their support through the process. The hard work starts now as we seek to implement the Equity Action Plan over the next 12-18 months.

Tickets warning

The Rugby Football Union has warned fans of the dangers of buying or reselling tickets through unofficial channels as this year's RBS 6 Nations tickets are mailed out. Ticket terms and conditions prevent anyone from advertising tickets for resale and the RFU regularly monitors websites like eBay. Any tickets found on this and other auction websites will be cancelled without refund and sanctions can be imposed.

Fans buying from unofficial sources also risk paying for forged, stolen or cancelled tickets which will result in them being refused entry to the stadium and leave them out of pocket. To date, 124 clubs, constituent bodies, schools and individuals have been penalised for contravening ticket terms and conditions, with sanctions ranging from a suspended 10 per cent reduction in entitlement to a four year total ticket ban. In order to reduce the number of tickets sold on the black market and protect rugby fans from unscrupulous dealers, RFU affiliated clubs may only sell tickets to official operators, Mike Burton, Events International and Sportingclass.

These operators pay the RFU royalties that are put back into the sport. Clubs are not allowed to sell tickets to any other operator. If ticketholders are unable to make it to the match, the returns policy enables them to get a refund if returning their tickets at least 48 hours before a match. These returned tickets are then passed on to genuine supporters via the England Rugby Supporters Club.

Sport Relief 2008

Events will take place across the nation from Friday 14-Sunday 16 March 2008 (The same weekend as the England v Ireland RBS 6 Nations match).

If your clubs want to raise their profile, recruit new members, showcase their venue in their community, have fun and raise money, please encourage them to visit
