CB Send Out - November 20, 2009
There are eleven items of importance that I would like to tell you about:
Francis Baron has advised the RFU Council of his intention to retire from the RFU at the next Annual General Meeting in July 2010. The full Francis Baron news article can be viewed on RFU.com
This is Rugby
Many thanks to the CBs who have already arranged their event to promote the Core Values of rugby. The This is Rugby one page memo (MS Word DOC 34kB) explains the importance of maintaining the momentum of spreading the 'This is Rugby' message. Please would you, in conjunction with your Rugby Development Manager, let firstname.lastname@example.org know the date, venue, time, activity (e.g. Schools of Rugby event) estimated attendees, and attendee breakdown (e.g. 50% U15 players, 40% parents, 10% CB Reps) for your activity. This will enable us to plan and resource all events appropriately.
The latest email to all O2 Pathfinders and CB Play On Leaders is available. Feedback is being gathered via your regional delivery teams about how we can make the O2 Pathfinder network more effective. We are entering a crucial time for players who are on the move, and we want to make sure we retain them in the game by offering them opportunities to carry on playing at their new location.
Presidents XV Awards
The 2010 Presidents XV awards are now open. These feature awards for teams of volunteers who, over the last 12 months, have promoted our Core Values and developed the people and places needed to support grassroots rugby. If you know an outstanding team of rugby volunteers, please complete the nomination form by February 2, 2010.
Under Age Players
Two important letters on this topic were distributed to clubs w/c 9 November regarding sanctions for fielding under age players. They were: a letter to the game on fielding underage players (MS Word DOC 222kB); and a paper on Liability for Players (MS Word DOC 219kB). Any issues relating to this should be referred back to the Legal Department.
Whole Club SoA Presentations
The three Investec Challenge matches saw pitch side presentations to 8 out of the 13 clubs that have achieved Whole Club Seal of Approval. Volunteers from Ashby (Leicestershire), Windsor (Berkshire), Grasshoppers (Middlesex), Sidcup (Kent), North Dorset (Dorset & Wilts), Knutsford (Cheshire), Fylde (Lancashire) and Ilkley (Yorkshire) attended one of the three matches to receive their certificates from RFU President, John Owen. The current figures Seal of Approval for each CB are presented in the table at the end of this email.
