CB Send Out - July 30, 2010
There are five items of importance that I would like to tell you about:
Women’s World Cup Legacy Projects
With the Women’s World Cup in England just 20 days away, a tremendous amount of hard work by staff and volunteers has already gone in to building a great legacy. Please see a six page snapshot (PDF 201kB) and five slide presentation (PDF 136 kB) of the events, programmes and projects that have been taking place around the country. Please would you also be kind enough to tell us about your events taking place from September 12 to October 31 using the WRWC CB Legacy Activity form (MS Word DOC 41kB)? If you are interested in purchasing tickets for any of the World cup games please visit: www.ticketmaster.co.uk/packages/womens_rugby_world_cup.html?camefrom=CFC_UK_SP0250_WEBLINK
Thank you to all the CBs who have returned their form nominating their delegates for the event on 10/11 September 2010 at Barceló Hinckley Island Hotel. If you have not already done so, please would you return the CB Conference nomination form (MS Word DOC 79kB) to Paula Hanson firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday, August 2 so that we can send individual delegate joining instructions.
THIS IS RUGBY Core Values Promotion
As clubs prepare for another exciting season of rugby, we are delighted to announce that the Community Game Board is providing all clubs with a mini section a pack of resources to help them promote the core values. More details will be sent to clubs and CBs shortly.
Staff Announcement from Jez Allman
It is my pleasure to be able to announce Jo Martin’s appointment as Regional Rugby Manager (RRM) for London North. Jo has significant experience as RDO for Surrey and has developed the CB and relationships within it very successfully. Her expertise and positive attitude will contribute to the dynamic of both the RRM team and London North region. Jo was chosen from a very competitive field of candidates and demonstrated that she has all of the attributes required to work with the region to deliver our strategic objectives. Jo takes on her new role from 24 August 2010. She will continue to support the development in Surrey in tandem with Peter Macaulay until a new RDO is appointed. Rob Drinkwater and his family will be emigrating to Australia in early August where Rob will be taking on the role of Manager – Central Services with the Australian Rugby Union. Rob’s last day with the RFU will be 31 July. Please join me in thanking Rob for the service he has given to the RFU over the last eight years and wishing him all the best in his new role.
Please see the O2 Rugby Reunion document (PDF 810kB) with the dates and locations of the seven O2 Rugby Reunion events that aim to get players to come back into rugby (one of which took place last weekend). Although principally targeted at the 16-24 old age group the events are open to everyone over 16. O2 Rugby Reunion uses facebook to reconnect players with their old teams, making it easy for them to start playing again and in doing so remember the enjoyment to be had from playing rugby with friends. The facebook app invites players to get their old teams back together to compete in a series of touch rugby events around the country with the chance to win a place in the grand finale which will take place on September 12th. The events are being delivered by the Regional Delivery Teams and are closely linked to clubs in the local area to ensure the best possible recruitment legacy. To find out more visit the O2 Rugby Reunion facebook site.
