Club School Links award 2006/07

Bolton RFC (Lancashire RFU)

Bolton RFC has established very strong links with the primary and secondary schools within the borough, providing coaching support and coach education to teachers. Their delivery of the CLA Tag award gives the opportunity for local pupils to gain recognised qualifications in sport. In the last year, Bolton RFC has provided the secondary schools of Bolton with the opportunity to play regular competitive fixtures for every year group through the Bolton Emerging Schools League. At present, 13 schools compete in the schools league with competitions from Year 7 to Year 11. This has led to the recruitment of over 20 players from local schools to Bolton RFC.

Along with the numerous after-school rugby coaching clubs, the number of young people taking part in extra curricular hours is increasing every season. The club also runs a primary tag league and has aided teachers in gaining qualifications such as Start Rugby, Foundation Refereeing and Level 1 Coaching. Schools from Blackburn and Bury want to join the leagues this season.
