Better Facilities In Action: Wirral RFC
As result of declining bar sales, the members of Wirral RFC took it upon themselves to make a step change in the social facilities on offer at the club.
The first phase of the renovation of their social spaces was the transformation of the existing players bar into a warm, attractive and stylish lounge in a welcoming, family-friendly environment.
The club delivered this change with a budget of £15,000 by managing the works carefully, members clearing the existing décor themselves and employing members who had the necessary skills or recommended sponsors or firms.
The club is already seeing a return on investment on the project:
- More females and families are using the club
- Increase of more than 20% in external function hire
- Longer usage by members and visitors
- Revenue has increased 14%, showing a return on investment within 18 months
