Rugby union’s non-contact game, Tag Rugby, is ideal for all abilities in primary schools. The game helps children to get involved in the sport on a long-term basis. Children in special schools have the chance to play and enjoy the game both as groups themselves and with children in mainstream education.
Many local Tag Rugby competitions exist around the country for special schools. This gives the opportunity to train and play together with other schools which also provides the social benefits of rugby on a wider basis.
The training programmes available can include coaching, competitions, proficiency award tests and rugby challenges. The flexibility of rugby means that programmes can be easily tailored to the needs of the school.
