The RFU works closely alongside the 12 Premiership clubs to support and bring rugby union to schools. The opportunities that the clubs and the umbrella organisation, Premiership Rugby, bring to schools are excellent and can really help to enhance your school teaching, learning and sporting programmes.
The schemes range from introducing youngsters to the sport via tag rugby, developing community cohesion in the inner cities, working with those at risk of anti-social behavior, to combining rugby with education on numeracy and healthy eating.
Each Premiership club has a community department promoting the club and the game locally. Colleagues at Premiership Rugby and the RFU are in regular contact to look at driving programmes jointly and ensuring that there is a co-ordinated approach across the country.
Please see theTeaching and Learning Resource Bank for resources that can support primary schools.
The Premiership Rugby website is also well worth a visit to find out more about the club community programmes.
