The Rugby Football Union and Premiership Rugby work with teachers to bring a range of high quality and innovative teaching resources to primary schools. We have launched our “Resource Bank” with a series of online and downloadable Rugby World Cup resources written with the help of teachers to enthuse and excite and your pupils. In the Resource Bank we also have other cross-curricular tools such as worksheets and presentations to help you plan an engaging lesson.

The Resource Bank will continue to grow with new rugby related resources added regularly. Like any other bank; deposits and withdrawals are equally welcome! Send your rugby lesson or resource ideas to email@example.com and we will showcase it for you.
Tag rugby is a fast-moving, non-contact invasion game suitable for boys and girls to play together and is our game of choice in primary schools. Tag 2 Twickenham is the local to national competition pathway available for schools taking part in tag rugby.
The key to the game is enjoyment, with running and handling skills to the fore. The interchangeable nature of possession, leading to rapid switching from attack to defence, means that a range of skills is developed. Teamwork – including co-operation, integration, collective responsibility and communication – in addition to opportunities for individuals to demonstrate a range of skills and attributes – handling, evasion, defence, determination and individual responsibility – are key elements of the game.
Not all teachers will feel they have the rugby knowledge or confidence to coach tag rugby. In response the RFU have produced a set of mini games and activities that simultaneously build both the teachers understanding and the children’s skills. The resource is progressive, it can be used at a pace that is comfortable for all and culminates in a game of tag rugby.
