Looking for more players aged 14-19 or young coaches, referees and volunteers? Your local college may be an untapped source of enthusiastic and talented young people. There are 341 colleges nationwide, with twice as many 16- to 18-year-old students as at secondary schools. Further education and sixth form college students undertake a range of vocational and academic courses, which can bring mutual benefits to them and your club.

Sport England recently invested £25 million in their Active Colleges programme, with 153 full-time College Sports Makers employed across England linking colleges with community sport. Rugby union is a priority for Active Colleges, this is the ideal time to get involved.

How can you get in touch with colleges?

Your local Rugby Development Officer (RDO) will be working with colleges in your area. If you would like to discuss the opportunities available to your club, please contact your local RDO.

The RFU also has a dedicated College Team within the Education Development Team. If you would like to contact them directly, please find contact details on our colleges development page.
