Models of good practise

There is a huge amount of good work taking place in universities around the country. Here we provide some examples which can be adopted and adapted to suit local needs.

Recruitment and retention

Freshers fairs (1. Huddersfield University. 2. University of Bradford) – Utilising the freshers fair to recruit new players and to ensure that the quality of experience they gained on and off the pitch kept these players in the game.

Intra-mural  – Offering playing opportunities within the university for students as an alternative to BUCS.

Developing womens rugby  - Introductory session into women's rugby for non-playing females.

Employability

Volunteering – Creating volunteering opportunities within the community and increasing the potential of the individuals, ultimately providing them with achievements they can note on their CVs.
