RFU Injured Players Foundation - Home

The RFU Injured Players Foundation supports people who sustain a catastrophic injury (CI) whilst playing rugby. The charity provides help and support for both players and their families in the early months of these injuries as well as in the long term and incorporates the former SPIRE Rugby Trust charity.

In addition to this support, the charity takes a more active approach to conducting and supporting research and education aimed at preventing injuries; and identifying how injured players can be helped more effectively.

Please use the links on the left to find out about the work we do, and most importantly how you can help to support those injured within the game.

The RFU Injured Players Foundation made the most of the recent sunshine at the IRB Sevens by running out for a charity tag and touch tournament during a break in play on the finals day of the London tournament. Led by England sevens legend, Simon Amor, a team of charity staff, fundraisers and supporters took on fundraisers from the Wooden Spoon in an exhibition game of touch rugby.

It was an opportunity for the 30,000 spectators to see the backing that the RFU has for the Injured Players Foundation and team Captain Simon Amor added:
"I am proud to support the RFU Injured Players Foundation at this event - through my role at UK Sport I work as a performance advisor to wheelchair rugby where some of the athletes are supported by the IPF and I am pleased to see that funds are being used to support these athletes who have a great opportunity to win a Paralympic medal in 2012 as well as any other people catastrophically injured whilst playing rugby in England."
