In July 2005, the South Stand at Twickenham Stadium was blown down to make may for development of a new South Stand.

The new South Stand will complete the stadium bowl bringing the capacity of the stadium upto 82,000 and will include a Marriott hotel, conference and exhibition space, a Virgin Active Health and Fitness Club, Office Space for the Union and a new RFU Rugby Store.
