England 3 South Africa 19
England youngsters were brought down to earth with a heavy thud on Sunday after South Africa inflicted a 19-3 defeat in the Under-19s FIRA World Cup.
Tosh Askew's men headed into the clash in Epernay confident after a comfortable 30-7 curtain-raiser victory over Russia, but all they could manage was one penalty from the boot of London Irish's Ross Broadfoot in the second half.
Right from the first whistle, South Africa immediately put England under pressure when they had the ball, forcing them to make mistakes. And it paid off as all of South Africa's three tries came from turnovers.
England will now be looking to make amends against Wales, who lost 42-6 to France, on Wednesday.
