Bath Rugby are delighted to announce the signing of promising former ACT Brumbies back row player Scott Gray on a one year deal.
Scott joins the club after a one year spell in Rugby League at the Brisbane Broncos. Born in Zimbabwe, Scott is English-qualified as well as qualifying for Australia, South Africa and his native Zimbabwe. He was a part of the Australia Under 21 squad and has played for Zimbabwe at Under 21 and Schoolboy level.
With back row regulars Gareth Delve and Adam Vander currently sidelined with injury and the possibility of both Danny Grewcock and Steve Borthwick heading down under for the World Cup, Director of Rugby Jack Rowell believes that Scott will have an important role to play at the club: Scott is a highly skilled, athletic back row forward who can cover both blindside and number 8. He joins the club with good credentials having spent two seasons with the ACT Brumbies before switching codes for a year with the Brisbane Broncos RL, for whom he played centre.
Scott is a very exciting acquisition in the key area of the back 5 and we are all looking forward to his arrival and integrating him into what is already a very good team spirit within the side.'
Gray, 25, is looking forward to a return to the fifteen man code with Bath Rugby: This is an excellent opportunity for me and one which I am really looking forward to. Bath Rugby has a great pedigree and there are some excellent players at the club and I just can't wait to take to meet up with the squad, take to the training paddock and challenge for a place in the side ahead of the new Zurich Premiership season."
Scott is the fifteenth summer signing for Bath Rugby and will join his new team mates later this week in preparation for the final pre-season trial match against Exeter Chiefs at the County Ground on Saturday (3pm).
