Titans name team for Saracens clash

31 October 2003

Titans side to face Saracens in the struggle at the bottom of the table sees several people start a Premiership match for the first time. New Zealander John Rawson plays his first match in the starting line-up as does Bernardo Stortoni - the Argentinian Full Back.

However the most notable debut is at scrum-half where Matthew Rhodes - the young U21 who has already played for England 7s - starts in the absence of World Cup stars Rauluni and Easterby as well as the controverially suspended Charlie Harrison. Another interesting name is England Under 21 lock Johnathan Pendlebury who figures in the squad for the first time after recovering from a shoulder injury.

"We are happy to select 2 such outstanding youngsters for this game. There is no-one on the Rugby Staff who does not have complete confidence in Matthew Rhodes. He has been a member of the 1st XV squad for the last 2 years and has already made a number of appearances as a replacement- and Johnathan Pendlebury is a player who is ready for it now. We are also extremely pleased to have Phil Jones back. He is a real talent," said Mike Schmid.
