GRAEME BOND announced his retirement from rugby yesterday after being warned by specialists that another blow to his neck could cause paralysis.
Graeme was in injured in the semi final win over Leeds in March. Graeme said " The specialist has told me that if I was to receive another blow in the same area it could be much worse than last time. I have two protruding discs near my spinal cord and the risk of playing again is not worth taking."
Graeme spoke to www.salesharks.com earlier today from the Gold Coast and said "My time at Sale Sharks was very special to me and my family. The support I received from the fans was incredible and something I will always remember. I would like to thank them all and would like to wish them a very Happy Christmas and New Year. I will keep in touch via the website and with the people I know at the club, and will be back to see you all in the future."
