The RFU announced this evening that Martyn Thomas has been elected Chairman of the RFU Management Board for the remainder of the 2004/05 season. The term of office runs until the AGM on July 17, 2005.
Thomas won the election by a vote of 403 to Jack Rowell's 290.
RFU President Malcolm Phillips said: "It has been a keenly fought election and we must all now move on and get behind the new chairman and there is much to be done in Community and Elite game."
Chairman of the RFU Management Board Thomas said: "I'm delighted to win and I'd like to thank Jack for a tough contest. My aim now is to work successfully with all parts on the game."
