Cornwall calling new referees

22 August 2005

The Cornwall Rugby Referees Society is continuing their bid to encourage new people into the officiating arena.

On August 28 the society will be hosting a course at Bude RFC for new and novice referees.

The course is designed to give newcomers an understanding of the laws of the game and advice on how to referee matches safely and successfully.

Cornwall Referee Liaison Officer Al Denham said: "This course is for anyone interested in taking up the whistle for whatever reason. For me refereeing gave me the opportunity to stay involved in rugby at a high level after injury ended my playing days. For others maybe this is your chance to excel in the sport. This course will give you the chance to learn about the laws of the game and how to apply them."

For more details on the workshop or taking up refereeing, please contact Al Denham on 01326 210880.
