James Askew, the son of England A skills coach Tosh Askew, and James Cannon, the son of former Northampton lock Vince Cannon, have been included in the Midlands Under-18 squad for the game against London in the opening England trial at Castlecroft in Wolverhampton on January 3 (1pm).
Scrum-half Askew is a pupil at Newcastle-under-Lyme School where he is coached by former England A scrum-half Simon Robson. Lock Cannon, who skippered East Midlands to the Midlands Under-18 Championship in October, is a pupil at Bishop Stopford School in Kettering and plays his club rugby for Kettering.
The squad also includes hooker George Thomas, the son of former Leicester and Ebbw Vale hooker Dave.
The Midlands selectors have named a 23-strong for the London game and they will prepare for the trial with a squad weekend at Stamford School on December 17 and 18 which will include a game against Bedford Blues academy on the second day (1pm).
The Midlands will also play games against the South West on February 5 and North on February 26 at venues to be decided.
