In preparation for this season's County Championship campaign the Somerset under 20s will take on the Army under 20s in a tough clash at Weston-Super-Mare RFC on January 8th, kick-off 2.30pm.
After a series of trial matches and squad training sessions this will be the first opportunity for the youngsters to play together in a completive match.
There are a handful of players from last year's squad in the team which will add an air of stability and experience, though Somerset know they will have a tough challenge on their hands against a team who reached last year's County Championship quarter-finals.
Steve Berryman of the Somerset under 20s side said: "The Army side will be physical in the forwards and will be well drilled and disciplined. However, I am sure Somerset will be able to match them up front and exploit any weaknesses in their backs through our quick and talented back-line. We are looking for a repeat of last year's narrow victory."
