Carlisle Cougars v Altrincham

19 October 2005

The Story sponsored Carlisle Cougars have carried on their winning streak beating Altrincham away 5 - 20.

Another try from the Cougars would have gained a bonus point but they were happy with the win.

Captain Marti Dodds said: "I think that we played our best rugby so far this season, our rucking was much better and the support play made Altrincham run out of ideas. The five try bonus point would've been good but a win is a win."

The score means that they are still five points clear at the top of the North 1 league, the highest regional league they can play in.

Coach Dave Cowgill said: "Our hard work at Wednesday's training paid dividends and enabled us to score 4 good tries whilst controlling the rest of the game. It was certainly our best performance so far."

Prop Lucy Meadley was voted players player of the match for her outstanding effort and support in both attack and defence.

The Cougars have a week off this week before they face Sheffield at home on the 30 October. Kick off is 2pm at Warwick Road and supporters are welcome.
