Issued on behalf of Leeds Tykes
Phil Davies today informed Leeds Tykes Chief Executive Gary Hetherington of his decision to end his 10 years at the Club.
Phil Davies today commented, "It is after much soul searching and discussion with my family and Leeds Tykes that I have decided to resign my post as Director of Rugby at the end of the season. The last 10 years has been an amazing journey with a fantastic group of people, helping to take the club from National League 3 to Heineken Cup rugby and winning the Powergen Cup last season.
"I want to make it clear that this mutual decision has nothing to do with the current situation at the club, and I have no immediate plans to go elsewhere, rather I just feel it's time to take a break, have some time out with my family and reflect upon my career and future, after a decade at this wonderful club.
"We have been very fortunate to live and work in Yorkshire, we have made many friends and Leeds Tykes will always be very close to our hearts. I wish them well in the future and I'm privileged and proud to be associated with them and am utterly convinced that they will bounce straight back up into the Premiership, stronger than ever before."
Gary Hetherington, Chief Executive said, "Phil has been at the heart of the whole Leeds Tykes experience and can look back on his contribution with pride. He leaves with our best wishes. Our board will now take some time to reflect and consider our way forward before making any further announcements"
