Wasps face tough match to reach play offs at Gloucester

 

The weekend started with Sale Sharks beating Bath 38-12 whilst Leicester Tigers were 13-12 winners at Vicarage Road against Saracens.

The Sharks guaranteed home advantage in the play ofs with their comfortable win against Bath with England International Charlie Hodgson contributing 23 points including a try.

The Tigers guaranteed a play off place with their narrow win away at Saracens with the games only try coming from in form winger Tom Varndell.

 

On Saturday Worcester were home winners over Newcastle Falcons at Sixways despite being out scored five tries to four by the visitors.

 

On Sunday London Irish confirmed their play off play in an amazing match at the Causeway when they beat London Wasps 56-37 out scoring the home side nine tries to five.

The home side were 19-10 ahead after 13 minutes but by half time it was all square at 29 all. Tom Voyce put the home side ahead in the opening minute of the second half as he completed his hat trick but after that it was all Irish with four unanswered tries.    

 

With Gloucester 31-7 winners at Headingley against Leeds Tykes they face a winner takes all play off against London Wasps for the final play off place next weekend.

 

Northampton Saints were 19-16 winners at Bristol to get the sixth Heineken Cup qualifying place.

They did the hard way as they trailed 16-0 going into the final 10 minutes of the match before scoring three tries to snatch a dramatic win.
