A Bristol University Select team enjoyed a Kenyan adventure reaching the quarter-finals of the main competition at the International Safari 7s on June 18th, and losing in the semi-final of the plate.

The squad, who compete in the tournament annually, consisted of university players as well as players from Clifton RFC and Guinness Premiership outfit Bristol.

The university select side's African adventures came to an end with a defeat to Uganda after a late injury time try and playing half the game with only six men. Uganda showed they were no pushovers by beating Western Province in the Plate Final.

Before that Bristol University Select had enjoyed wins over Zambia (22-7), Kenya Seconds (15-14) and Western Province (12-25) in the pool stages before losing 12-21 to an Emerging Boks team in the cup quarter-finals. That defeat put then in the Plate play-offs.

Whilst in Kenya the team also visited schools to give away balls and educational materials and an orphanage.
