London Wasps hooker Rob Webber was today called into the England U21 squad for the IRB U21 World Championship in France next month after Sale Sharks' Neil Briggs was withdrawn due to injury.

Said England hooker turned England U21 coach Dorian West, "We're very glad to have Rob with us.  He's an experienced player for his age.  He's played for Leeds Tykes, Wasps and Blackheath, having been on loan to them this season.

"Rob is good technically and also very mobile.  He played for England U19s in the World Championship last year so we know a fair bit about him and know he'll do alright with us."

The squad meets on Friday 2 June for a training camp before flying to France the following week.  All players and coaches will be available for pre-requested interviews on Friday 2 June from 5.30-6.30pm at the Holiday Inn, London Heathrow.  An open training session may also be arranged upon request.

Please send media requests to Nicki Drinkwater, England U21 press officer, on nickidrinkwater@rfu.com by Wednesday 31 May.
