Hubbleday gets North Midlands coaching job

17 December 2007

North Midlands have appointed former Pertemps Bees hooker Alan Hubbleday to the county's senior coaching team.

Hubbleday, who works as one of the Rugby Football Union rugby development officers for North Midlands, will work with Duncan Hughes, the Droitwich and former Stourbridge and Worcester fly-half, in atrempting to help North Midlands promotion back to the top flight of the County Championship, the Bill Beaumont Cup, following relegation last season.

Hubbleday replaces the long-serving David Stout, who retired at the end of last season. But former Cheltenham and Northampton player Stout will retain an involvement with the North Midlands coaching team in an advisory capacity.

Former England Schools and England Colts international Hubbleday is currently playing for Old Halesonians and is coach of the Worcester Women and Worcester University sides.

He toured Australia with England Schools ten years ago in a squad that included Jonny Wilkinson and played for Moseley, Pertemps Bees and Stourbridge during his senior career.

Hubbleday is married to Jo Yapp, former captain of the England Women's rugby team.
