Jason Leonard to join Professional Game Board

England's most capped player Jason Leonard OBE has been appointed as the fourth RFU representative on the Professional Game Board following a decision made at the December 19th Management Board meeting.

The PGB will run the Elite game in England from July 1st 2008 and formed part of the RFU and Premier Rugby Limited agreement signed in November 2007.

Jason Leonard joins RFU representatives, Francis Baron OBE, the Chief Executive of the RFU, Rob Andrew, Elite Rugby Director and John Spencer, the Chairman of Club England. Chairman of the RFU Management Board Martyn Thomas will be the first Chairman of the PGB.

The PRL representatives on the PGB are Tom Walkinshaw, the Chairman of PRL, Mark McCafferty, Chief Executive of PRL and Peter Wheeler, Chief Executive of Leicester Tigers. A fourth PRL position is to be announced by PRL in due course.

Jason Leonard said: "I'm delighted to be joining the PGB. I am a huge supporter of the Elite game and I hope I can bring the substantial playing experience I enjoyed to the meetings, which are aimed at ensuring the Elite game is the best it can be at club and international level."
