The 2007 Active Dorset awards where launched to try and recognise and reward the sporting expertise in Dorset.
Chris Davis, Mini & Youth Secretary at the club, said: "In 2007 Weymouth RFC have taken great strides with forging ever greater links in the local community with inter schools tag festivals, beach rugby and a Weymouth carnival to name but a few.
"In September the club was also awarded the much coveted RFU Seal of approval and Club mark status. The club has grown in numbers across all sections, from Under 6s to the over 50s, and has recently formed a Veterans team. The club operates a One club Ethos' and is a community club for all."
Davis added: "We are overjoyed to be recognised and rewarded with the Active Dorset Community Sports Club of the Year award and for Des Quick's Lifetime Achievement award.
"Without the loyal committed stalwarts like Des, the parents, players and members of the community Weymouth RFC would not be where they are today and the club would certainly not have been awarded the Active Dorset Community club of the year 2007."
