Four Warwickshire schools have become the first to qualify for the finals day of this season's Army-sponsored West Midlands Schools Sevens at Stourbridge's Stourton Park ground on October 18.
Coleshill School and Cardinal Newman School qualified as Warwickshire's representatives in the boys tournament and Stratford GS and Coundon Court School in the girls event from the Warwickshire qualifying tournament played at Old Coventrians yesterday. Eight schools took part in the Warwickshire event.
Other regional qualifying events will stage din the next two weeks as follows: finals at Shrewsbury on October 2, Staffordshire at Stafford on October 4, Herefordshire at Hereford on October 8, Worcestershire at Bromsgrove on October 9 and Birmingham and the Black Country at Old Halesonians on October 10.
The competition involves around 1,000 under-16s, boys and girls, in regional qualifying tournaments in Warwickshire, Staffordshire and North Midlands, culminating in a finals day which will be staged this season at Stourbridge.
