RFU panel to hear Newbold appeal

22 December 2008

A RUGBY Football Union Competitions Appeal panel will meet at the Coventry M6 Holiday Inn Hotel on Tuesday December 30 to hear Newbold-on-Avon's appeal against their disqualification from the EDF Energy Senior Vase.

Newbold were disqualified by the competitions Organising Committee who investigated the circumstances of the abandonment of their tie at Loughborough.

The Organising Committee determined that the match was abandoned for circumstances other than weather conditions. Loughborough were leading 15-6 at the time referee John Hill abandoned the game.

The RFU appeal panel will comprise Robert Horner (chairman), Peter Rhodes and Bob Taylor. The hearing is due to start at 7pm.
