MIDDLESEX CLUB SEVENS 2008 to be held at RICHMOND ATHLETIC GROUND, RICHMOND, TW9 2SS on SATURDAY 3rd MAY 2008
Your Club is invited to enter one or more teams into the Middlesex Club Sevens Competition for 2008 which once again will be a complete One Day Event at the Richmond Athletic Ground for the Cup, Plate, Bowl and Vase Trophies.
In keeping with previous years the competitions are open only to Club sides playing regular 15-a-side fixtures. Each club can enter a squad of 12 players and will be allowed to make 3 replacements during each match. Clubs are encouraged to enter at the highest level but should remember that any second team will be placed in the same competition as that entered by their first team.
THE MIDDLESEX CLUB SEVENS CUP All Clubs from League National 1 and below can enter into this competition. The competition will be run with a pool based qualifying round followed by knockout rounds leading to the final. The winner of each pool will go on to the Quarter, Semi and Final of the Cup. The overall winner will receive the Middlesex Club Sevens Cup and qualify to compete in the Presidents Cup competition which will be played at Twickenham on Charity Sevens day.
THE PLATE From the initial pool competition the 2nd placed clubs will progress to the knockout stage of the Plate competition with quarter and semi-finals through to the final. The winner of the plate competition will receive the Middlesex Club Sevens Plate Trophy
THE BOWL From the initial pool competition the 3rd placed Clubs will progress to the knockout stage of the Bowl competition, with quarter and semi-finals through to the final. The winner will receive the Middlesex Club Sevens Bowl Trophy
THE VASE All Middlesex associated or affiliated Clubs from League Level 10-12, i.e. County 2 downwards, are eligible to enter this competition. The winner will receive the Middlesex Club Sevens Vase Trophy. The Vase will run as a totally separate event. Student and non league teams will not be eligible for the Vase Competition.
ENTRY FEES The entry fee for the Competition is �40 per team. If your Club entered last year (2007) and cried off before the Competition an additional fee of �40 will be levied to secure your entry. An additional �50 will be levied if your Club failed to show up on the day. Both levies will be refunded by MCRFU as long as your Club participates in the 2008 Competition. If your Club is neither an Affiliated nor an Associated member of Middlesex then it will be necessary to include an additional �30 to become a Temporary Associated Member Club. The necessary forms will be sent to you by return.
An acknowledgement of your entry will be sent to you, together with the Rules and Regulations of the competition. Your Club will be notified of the draw and final arrangements in April 2008. Please direct any questions to Craig Silver, Club Sevens Co-ordinator email@example.com
Please note the requirement that all Clubs participating in the Competition must report to the control desk at Richmond Athletic Ground, no later than 30 minutes before the commencement of the Tournament. Commencement time will be given within the draw details.
