Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter is planning a New Year bounce back after a pudding of a Christmas let Bristol Rugby take their place at the top of the Championship table.

The 16-25 reverse in front of a packed Sandy Park followed their defeat at Plymouth Albion to leave the Chiefs staring up the ladder for the first time this season.

Baxter told the RFU Podcast: "We are obviously disappointed in front of a sell out crowd at home. The biggest marker for us now is how we come back from this.

“We always planned the season around running into real top form at the end of the season. We are disappointed to be losing games now but I know we will be better."
