England Team Manager Martin Johnson announced today that London Wasps back row Joe Worsley has been called into the Senior Elite Player Squad as an injury replacement for club team mate Tom Rees.

Joe has been training with the England Senior Elite Player Squad in Portugal this week and the decision has been made after the England medical team assessed Bath Rugby's Michael Lipman in Portugal this week. Michael will continue his recovery from injury with his club.

England completed their training camp on the Algarve with a final session at 'Browns', their base for the last five days.

All the players took part in training with the exception of Tim Payne (London Wasps) and Lipman (Bath Rugby).

Payne was rested yesterday and today as a precaution because of sore abdominal muscles and it is expected that he will resume training on Monday.

England Team Manager Martin Johnson said: "The five days have been very productive. The conditions were good and the players and coaches have enjoyed some quality training, preparation and analysis time together. I'd like to thank 'Browns' and their staff for hosting us."

The England Senior Elite Player Squad will convene at their regular training base, the Pennyhill Park Hotel in Bagshot, Surrey on Sunday evening, February 1.

The England 22 to play Italy in the RBS 6 Nations on Saturday, February 7, will be announced on Tuesday, February 3.
