The Oxford University side preparing for the Nomura Varsity match had a morning to remember when they faced Martin Johnson’s England at the end of last week.
Oxford’s first team were gearing up for their 128th encounter with Cambridge on December 10 at Twickenham Stadium and tested themselves against the very best in an hour long training session.
The session held at England’s training base, the Pennyhill Park Hotel in Bagshot, Surrey included line outs, scrums and drill work for the backs under the watchful eye of Oxford University head coach Steve Hill and England Team Manager Martin Johnson.
Steve Hill said: “It was a great session. The two squads trained against each other and it benefitted both sets of players. I’m sure all the members of our squad will never forget the morning and Martin, the coaches and the England squad made us feel very welcome.”
England Team Manager Martin Johnson added: “We had a good week at Pennyhill Park last week and we finished it with the session against Oxford University. Periodically we invite a number of teams to do some opposed training with us and Steve Hill’s squad includes some good players. I’m sure that like every year their match against Cambridge will be a very tough and challenging game.”
