Brian Ashton tops bill at North Midlands Coaching Conference

Former England coach Brian Ashton will be the key note speaker at the North Midlands RFU Coaching Conference in Kidderminster on January 10.

Ashton, who has linked up with the RFU’s Community Coaching Department to help develop coaches in England, will run a session on Developing Highly Skilful Players at the Conference at the Holy Trinity Girls School.

Ashton, former head coach of Bath, will be assisted in the session by Paul Westgate, the England Students head coach and former director of rugby of Nuneaton.

Other presenters at the North Midlands RFU Coaching Conference include Birmingham & Solihull’s coach team of Russell Earnshaw and Eugene Martin.

Earnshaw, who is assistant coach of the England Sevens side, will run a session on Contact Skills with New Zealander Martin focusing on Back Play.

Ian Bletcher, the RFU’s Coach Development Officer for the Midlands West region will run a session on Club Coaching Plans.

The North Midlands Coaching Conference is targeted at coaches working in fifteen-a-side rugby particularly those involved in adult club rugby.
