England Women Rugby World Cup semi finalists Becky Essex and Emma Croker joined fellow world cup players from Ireland, Wales and Australia, as well as England Men’s international Tom Croft to lend their support to the O2 Rugby Reunion event at Oakmeadians RFC on Sunday.

O2 Rugby Reunion is a nationwide initiative supported by the RFU to encourage players who have drifted away from rugby to get back involved with the game they love.

Essex and Croker, who just 24 hours earlier helped England book their place in Wednesday’s WRWC semi final against Australia with a 37-10 defeat of the USA, took part in a variety of games with their fellow players. The event also gave the players an opportunity to meet their fans and supporters.

Richmond hooker Croker said: “This has been great fun. It gave us an opportunity to meet rugby fans, sign autographs and encourage young girls to stick with the game.

"It was also a chance to mingle with other world cup players in a fun and relaxed environment. I know Oakmeadians club quite well so it was fantastic to support them and the RFU."

Advice and autographs

Essex added: “It was fantastic to see so much local support. Oakmeadians have helped to put on a great event and seeing so many young players taking part has been great. Lots of young girls approached us for autographs and advice which was brilliant.”

England take on Australia at 8.30pm today at the Twickenham Stoop. In the other semi final reigning world champions New Zealand play France at 615pm, also at the Stoop.

For WRWC 2010 tickets visit the Ticketmaster website or call 0844 844 2010. The semi finals and final will be held at the Twickenham Stoop.
