  • Sneak thief strikes at West Bridgford
  • Well spoken con man targetting clubs in the Midlands

Notts, Lincs & Derbyshire have issued a warning to clubs in the Midlands to be on the lookout for a con man who stole from West Bridgford’s changing rooms last Saturday.

The changing rooms were locked before the start of the third XV friendly against Long Eaton but the con man managed to obtain the dressing room key from the kitchen staff on the pretence that he was a collecting the referee’s glasses case.

The man is described as being well-spoken with grey hair. He is in his early fifties and with a lazy eye.

He referred to the West Bridgford kitchen staff by name and it is believed that he first visited the club a month ago when he gathered information on the club, officials and staff.

West Bridgford will be re-examining their security procedures but other clubs have been urged to be vigilant until the thief is apprehended.
