The national 16 Group selectors have announced an England Under 16 squad of 26 players and an extended England U16 A squad of 28 players who will train together at Warwick School this weekend (February 27-28) as preparations continue for the international fixtures in April.

Head coach Phil Stanlake and forwards coach Tim Bennett have chosen the England Under 16 squad to include 12 backs and 14 forwards, while the extended A squad comprises 13 backs and 15 forwards.

After the Warwick get-together, the two squads will split to train and play separately. The England squad preparing for the annual Four Nations Tournament in Italy will meet at Cokethorpe School on March 6-7 and March 19-21, while the A squad will gather on the same dates at Rugby School and Warwick School respectively.

Both squads will have practice matches against Under 17 club or academy opposition woven into their training programme.

Details have also been announced of this year’s International Festival, to be held at Wellington College in Berkshire from April 4-9.

Formerly staged at Millfield School the Festival includes three matches for England Under 16 A against Scotland, Belgium and France A. Also taking part are Wales A, Italy A, Canada, Portugal and three teams drawn from the English Divisions.
