Lewis Moody is now with the England squad following his appearance for Bath Rugby at the weekend, while Tom Croft, who also made a return from injury in the Aviva Premiership on Saturday, stays with Leicester Tigers to continue his return to full match action.
Skipper Moody made a 23-minute appearance for Bath in their 38-8 victory over Northampton and expressed his delight at joining up with his England team-mates.
He said: "I am going to be an excitable boy being back in the camp for real. It's been wonderful to see the boys do so well so far.
"I've said all along that I wanted to be back for this French game. We said it was a realistic target, so we've all been proved right at the minute.
"Mike Tindall has done a cracking job as captain and the guys who have come in have stuck their hands up, which bodes well in a World Cup year, but it has also been soul-destroying for me.
"I am a terrible spectator of the game, and I've found it difficult."
Despite being out of action for five weeks, Moody is ready to start against France on Saturday if required, but admits he may not necessarily be an automatic choice to face Les Bleus.
"It's a discussion we will need to have in the week, but I've returned from injury and played nine minutes before being recalled to the England team, so the lack of time is not an issue," Moody added.

Meanwhile, flanker Tom Croft has explained the decision for him to remain with Leicester and continue his rehabilitation from a shoulder injury, suffered on international duty, at Welford Road.
Croft said: "My focus now is playing for Leicester. I got 20 minutes in this game and hopefully I can have more game time next week and get back to fitness and into the swing of things, just get back into the Leicester way of things and go from there.
"I would feel nervous if I was called up [for England] after just 20 minutes. I just need to get back playing regularly.
"Martin Johnson kept tabs on me to see how I was doing but the England team are going well and have had two great wins from two games."
With Andrew Sheridan adding to list of key players returning from injury, Chris Robshaw of Harlequins has been called up to the England squad training at Pennyhill Park in place of Joe Worsley, who has returned to London Wasps to be treated for a neck injury.
Alex Corbisiero of London Irish has also been called in to the squad following an ankle injury to David Wilson, who is receiving treatment from the Bath medical team.
