Sale have continued their recruitment process for next season with the signing of Tasesa Lavea from Top 14 champions Clermont.
The New Zealand-born fly half has agreed a two-year deal at Edgeley Park, having previously played Super Rugby for the Chiefs and the Blues.
Lavea is a dual-code international after being called up to the Samoa squad for the November Tests having previously played rugby league for New Zealand.
"This is an excellent capture for Sale Sharks," said sporting director Steve Diamond.
"Tasesa is a quality act and he will fit in perfectly with my plans for next season."
Lavea becomes sixth new recruit for Sale
Lavea joins Kris Chesney, Mark Easter, Kearnan Myall, Joe Ward and Tony Buckley in joining the Sharks for next season.
And the versatile 31-year-old, who can also play in centre, is relishing the chance for a fresh challenge.
"Having played a lot of top level rugby in the Southern Hemisphere and in the past two years experiencing success in the Top 14 with Clermont, it is a fantastic opportunity for me to experience another tough, world-class competition with Sale Sharks," Tasesa said.
"I like the fact that the club is making changes and want a fresh start and it is exactly the type of challenge I am looking for."
