London Wasps stars Jack Wallace and Christian Wade went back to school on Wednesday afternoon when they helped the Royal Grammar School’s Under-15 side prepare for their Daily Mail RBS Cup final, to be played at Twickenham next week.

The pair – who left the RGS in High Wycombe in 2009 – lent their support at a training session and offered advice to the youngsters, who also had the opportunity to ask questions ahead of their showdown with Truro School on Wednesday 6th April.

Another former student – London Wasps club captain Tom Rees – will talk to the squad on Saturday about what to expect when they play at Twickenham.

And to congratulate the side on their extraordinary cup campaign so far, London Wasps have donated 30 tickets for their St George’s Day Game against Bath Rugby to the team, to allow them to see their idols in action back at Twickenham on April 23.

Jack Wallace said: “It’s great to see the school preparing for a big game like this and we’re pleased to show our support to the lads. The school played a massive part in my development as a player and I wish them the best of luck for the final.”

Christian Wade added: “I wasn’t fortunate enough to be involved in a Daily Mail RBS Cup final when I was at the school and it will be a great opportunity for them. It shows what an excellent school it is that they’re able to reach a final at Twickenham and I hope they can bring home the trophy.”

Liam Doubler, director of rugby at the Royal Grammar School, said: “Having taught Jack and Christian when they were at the school, it’s lovely to see them again and we are all behind them in their careers. It’s fantastic of them to come back here and it shows that the school means a lot to them. The kids were hanging on their every word and they’ve given some great advice and good luck messages which will help them prepare for the final.”
