Seven players called for RFU disciplinary action

  • Seven players charged after Round 7 of the Aviva Premiership
  • Benjamin, Powell, Dawidiuk, Farrell, Wood, Armitage and Fuimaono-Sapolu cited

Following last weekend’s Aviva Premiership Round 7 fixtures the following disciplinary cases have arisen:

Miles Benjamin of Worcester Warriors has been charged with a dangerous tackle on London Wasps’ Nicky Robinson at Sixways on October 28 following a report by the citing officer Tony Lanaway.

The case will be heard at 7pm on Monday, November 7 at the Bristol Filton Holiday Inn by an RFU Disciplinary Panel of Daniel White (chair), Mike Curling and John Doubleday.

Andy Powell of Sale Sharks has been charged with a dangerous tackle on Leicester Tigers’ Thomas Waldrom at Edgeley Park on October 28 following a report by the citing officer Mike Rafter.

The case will be heard by an RFU Disciplinary Panel at a date and time to be confirmed.

Darren Dawidiuk of Gloucester Rugby been charged with a dangerous tackle on Saracens’  Brad Barritt at Kingsholm on October 29 following a report by the citing officer Mike Rafter.

Owen Farrell of Saracens has been charged with a dangerous tackle on Gloucester Rugby’s Henry Trinder.

Nick Wood of Gloucester Rugby been charged with a dangerous tackle on Owen Farrell.

Delon Armitage of London Irish has been charged with a dangerous tackle on Bath Rugby’s Tom Biggs and striking Dave Attwood with his knee at the Madejski Stadium on October 29 following a report by the citing officer John Byett.

The above cases will be heard by an RFU Disciplinary Panel of His Honour Judge Jeff Blackett the RFU Disciplinary Officer, Robert Horner and Peter Budge at Twickenham Stadium on Tuesday, November 8 (3.30pm start).

In addition, Eliota Fuimaono-Sapolu of Gloucester Rugby has been charged with Conduct prejudicial to the interests of the Game contrary to Rule 5.12 of the Rules of the Rugby Football Union.

The charges against Fuimaono-Sapolu are that:

On October 29 and 30, 2011 he made, or adopted from other users of Twitter, insulting or provocative comments about Owen Farrell, a professional rugby player, on his Twitter account.

Between October 27 and 31, 2011 he made, or adopted from other users of Twitter, critical or sarcastic comments about the rugby disciplinary process on his Twitter account.

Between October 25 and 27, 2011 he made, or adopted from other users of Twitter, critical comments about the Rugby World Cup and the International Rugby Board on his Twitter account.

Fuimaono-Sapolu has been summoned to appear before an RFU Disciplinary Panel of Daniel White (chair), Mike Curling and John Doubleday at the Bristol Filton Holiday Inn on Monday, November 7 (7.30pm).
