- Championship leaders sign Premiership lock Glen Townson
- Another option in second row – Middleton
RFU Championship leaders Bristol Rugby have added lock Glen Townson to their squad on a six-month loan deal.
The 25-year-old joins Middleton’s squad from Newcastle Falcons for the remainder of the 2011/12 RFU Championship season.
A former England Under 18 captain, Townson came through the ranks at Sale Sharks Academy.
The formidable 6ft 6in, 18-stone lineout jumper has significant Championship experience, having made 32 appearances for Doncaster Knights during the 2009/10 campaign.
Townson enjoyed 15 outings for Newcastle in the Aviva Premiership last season, helping the Falcons avoid relegation.
"Glen is an imposing, physical player who knows what the Championship is all about," said Head Coach Liam Middleton. "He has experience at Premiership level and will give us another option in the second row."
