Round 8 of the Championship kicks off in style with a top-two clash as Bristol take on London Welsh at the Memorial Stadium.

Bristol will no doubt be looking to make amends against the Exiles, having lost at home to them in last year’s play-offs. Sky Sports HD will be broadcasting the game live from 7:30pm.

On Saturday, Doncaster and Nottingham will look to re- enact last season’s thriller at Castle Park, which went the way of the Knights, 46-42.

The form book points to a draw, however, with the Knights having tied 18-all at Bedford last weekend and Nottingham finishing all square with the opposition in two out of their last three fixtures.

Scottish to face Blues for first time in 10 years

Elsewhere, Moseley coaches, Kevin Maggs and Craig West, come up against former club Rotherham while London Scottish entertain Bedford Blues for the first time in over a decade: Bedford doing the double over the Exiles in the old Allied Dunbar Premiership in the 1998/99 season.

Sunday’s two games are Cornish Pirates v Esher and Leeds v Plymouth. The Pirates won last season’s corresponding fixture, 54-6, but they have lost to the Surrey side on home soil before: 7-16 in March 2009.

Leeds have made a habit of last- gasp home wins this season, with games against Bristol and Moseley being decided in their favour with the last kick of the game.

Carnegie Head Coach Diccon Edwards will hope for a more comfortable afternoon against Albion, though, who went down to a 49-18 defeat on their last visit to Headingley in December 2008.
